Thoughts on Gun Control

Theoretically, Teri, I agree with you.

However you open yourself the door to call for guns when stating : "I think there would be less robberies, and crime in general if civilians were not allowed to carry or even have guns."

These are 2 different things and the gun is a tool for crime and not the crime creator.

The question is on one hand: How come people feel themselves so much as a potential victim? or How come that we do need guns to feel ourselves strong and male enough?

On the other hand reality is such that a strict control should be made, a control including the characteristics of the gun and its fired round. We do need a law stating that the owner of a weapon is responsible or share responsibility for it, for its crimes, etc.

The owner should be fully accountable even if the gun was lost, re-sold, unless an official transfer is being filed.

At this point, I bet you, that no supporter of the NRA will agree to such control: They will try to state that such control is done in order to "expropriate" the gun. However a car is registered, a home as well, a boat even and no one ever complained that this was done to expropriate them. Any how one can kill someone when driving ...

I am sorry, but I don't agree... I don't own a gun, but if I were being robbed, in the middle of the night, I would wish I did. Cars kill more people than guns do...

I agree with you in many ways - for only in America does anyone have or own a gun - NO other nation is allowed to look at one let alone own one and use it wrongly..so I agree, put the toys away and get real :-)

When a criminal comes to your school or place of work and starts killing you or your kids/family, how will you stop him? Maybe you can just ask him to quit. Cars are dangerous. They kill many more people than guns. Maybe we should outlaw them too. There are plenty of laws already on the books for gun control, but criminals ignore the laws. So when nobody is allowed to have a gun, guess who will have plenty of them.

I do not agree with you on this one. I was raised in a family that was never without a gun. it was never used in violence.They were used for hunting, for killing our own hogs ect. as we lived on a farm. Sometimes it was used to eliminate predatory animals out of our barns are chicken houses.

But had if ever needed to be used for family protection it would have been used.

If more people thought like this, the world would be a better place.

There's nothing wrong with people owning hunting rifles. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why any law-abiding citizen needs a or even wants an assault rifle.

PS: The guns vs. cars argument is completely bogus.
